I am back to taking a Photo A Day in 2012. It’s a project I’ve done before and am so enjoying doing again. Yes, some days I panic and wonder what on earth I can photograph and yes, a lot are “filler shots”, but generally I use it as a diary and it is so nice to look back on.

So, here are some of my highlights from January. The last shot is a mosaic of all the shots from this month. I love that it shows so much colour and warmth despite the short days, the lack of money, the cold…

I made a Blurb photobook for my husband recently, and absolutely loved looking back at images I have taken over the past year – here in Worcestershire, in West Sussex, Devon, New York… Too often I only look at the front page of my Flickr photostream, the most recent product shots for Toyella, the most recent Facebook page updates – but just taking time to look back to moments passed lifts my spirits, and makes me fall in love with photography all over again. It has been a great year and I have loved capturing so many special moments.

I wanted to put together a few of my favourite images of this past year. Some clients, some of my children, some of trips we’ve taken. I hope together they give a sense of who I am and what – and who! – I love capturing.

On my last day in New York in October I did some mini photoshoots in Prospect Park in Brooklyn. It was a great challenge to work with the different lighting – with the first shoot it was pretty overcast, then the sun came out a bit more for the next, and for this last shoot it had turned into a beautiful sunny day.

I was so lucky to have such great weather and such gorgeous and lovely models! This session was with Melissa and her husband Michael and their daughter Ella. Isn’t she gorgeous? She actually was pretty poorly, and Melissa and Michael had had hardly any sleep. But I think they look great

The weather looks great for the next few days so am planning an after-school shoot with the kids in the park. Get in touch if you would like to come kick some leaves with me!

Today on the blog is Carmen, Dan and their three year old son Simon. Simon did NOT want me to photograph him to begin with – every time he saw me hold up the camera he yelled! I started to panic – these were 20-30 minute mini photoshoots and I so wanted to get some great shots of him!

Luckily with a bit of leaf throwing, bubbles, laughing & enticement he quickly warmed up and I’m so glad I was able to capture his absolutely gorgeous face!

First though a shot of Carmen and Dan – it’s nice to have a picture just as a couple sometimes!

Whilst in New York recently a few of my sisters friends commissioned me to do some mini photo sessions in their local park.

The sessions were about 30 minutes each and I had such a great time playing football, throwing leaves, blowing bubbles and capturing the love of these beautiful families.

I had the pleasure of photographing our best friends’ little boy’s celebration in the Summer. Not a christening as such, more a big celebration to welcome him into the world with his parents, brother, Godparents, Grandparents, auntie, uncle, cousins and many many friends.

We started the Summer going down to my parent’s in Littlehampton, West Sussex, where we spent most of the time at the beach…

I thought I couldn’t find a more glamorous 80 year old after my blog post from earlier in the year! Beryl asked me some shots at her party in Worcester for an hour or so – of her guests enjoying some alcoholic fruit punch and of her and her friends and family together for her special day.
