I am back to taking a Photo A Day in 2012. It’s a project I’ve done before and am so enjoying doing again. Yes, some days I panic and wonder what on earth I can photograph and yes, a lot are “filler shots”, but generally I use it as a diary and it is so nice to look back on.

So, here are some of my highlights from January. The last shot is a mosaic of all the shots from this month. I love that it shows so much colour and warmth despite the short days, the lack of money, the cold…

I made a Blurb photobook for my husband recently, and absolutely loved looking back at images I have taken over the past year – here in Worcestershire, in West Sussex, Devon, New York… Too often I only look at the front page of my Flickr photostream, the most recent product shots for Toyella, the most recent Facebook page updates – but just taking time to look back to moments passed lifts my spirits, and makes me fall in love with photography all over again. It has been a great year and I have loved capturing so many special moments.

I wanted to put together a few of my favourite images of this past year. Some clients, some of my children, some of trips we’ve taken. I hope together they give a sense of who I am and what – and who! – I love capturing.

Whilst in New York recently a few of my sisters friends commissioned me to do some mini photo sessions in their local park.

The sessions were about 30 minutes each and I had such a great time playing football, throwing leaves, blowing bubbles and capturing the love of these beautiful families.

I had the pleasure of photographing our best friends’ little boy’s celebration in the Summer. Not a christening as such, more a big celebration to welcome him into the world with his parents, brother, Godparents, Grandparents, auntie, uncle, cousins and many many friends.

I haven’t blogged for too long, and was just looking through some of my pictures on Picasa and thought I’d share some of my favourite images from a lovely Summer.

We started the Summer going down to my parent’s in Littlehampton, West Sussex, where we spent most of the time at the beach…

I thought I couldn’t find a more glamorous 80 year old after my blog post from earlier in the year! Beryl asked me some shots at her party in Worcester for an hour or so – of her guests enjoying some alcoholic fruit punch and of her and her friends and family together for her special day.

I was asked to take a few shots of the choir my husband has recently joined after their recent concert at Little Comberton Church, Pershore, Worcestershire.

One should never disclose a lady’s age, but I do have to ask you all to come close whilst I whisper that this gorgeous lady celebrated her eightieth birthday last weekend. She looks absolutely amazing for her age and has such energy and enthusiasm for life!

I had a great time spending the afternoon photographing the guests and the AMAZING afternoon tea. The table was groaning with scones, chocolates, petit fours, cupcakes, sandwiches… It was a very civilised affair and I wish you, Victoria, a very happy Special birthday. Really hope you like the images.

I’m sure people reading this that have children will appreciate how quickly time goes – the newborn days turn to sitting-up days, which turn to toddling days, then preschooling days, then school etc. etc. Before we know it our children have grown up in front of eyes, but what I love about being a photographer is being able to capture those moments. Our children change so much – especially in the first year.

Arturo is 6 months old and his personality is now coming through. He’s strong and quite stubborn, funny and delightful. When he’s on his tummy he flies like a skydiver, and when you tickle his chest he does the most adorable chuckle.

I will be back to do shots of him again in 3 months and then 3 months after that. I am so pleased that Sabrina and Alex have asked me to document his first year like that – a perfect memento.
